One and Done
This student came to us from another alternative program, and was very discouraged.
Her goal was to complete her diploma requirements or get a GED. We looked at
her transcript and determined she only needed one more English course to receive
her Washington State Diploma. She successfully completed the course and earned
her diploma.
Onward and Upward
During the first year of the Internet Academy, a student enrolled in the middle
of her senior year with 15.5 credits. That year she earned four more credits,
but not enough to earn a diploma and graduate. After moving to Seattle two years
later, this student re-enrolled to complete the required courses for her Washington
State Diploma. She succeeded and has since requested a copy of her transcript
to apply for a Federal Government position that required a high school diploma.
Last Chance
Another student was nearing his 21st birthday. He had a young son and was interested
in enlisting in the Army. He had more than enough credits to graduate, but still
lacked a CWP credit. He came to us and worked with his teacher to develop an
individualized course plan. After completing his CWP Service Learning Project
requirement, he was awarded his high school diploma.
A Much-Needed Alternative
A student came to us from a very large high school, where he was struggling
with some social difficulties. He and his parents were concerned by some disruptive
groups of students and other distractions. It effected him so greatly that he
had lost 3/4 of a year of credits and was to the point of dropping out of school.
Then, his family learned about EIA. They decided to enroll him, and this proved
a very valuable alternative. He completed all his courses with great success
and graduated a quarter ahead of schedule. He is now a successful college student,
and his sister just followed in his footsteps to earn her diploma through the
Evergreen Internet Academy a year early!
